Aguerd signed a contract with Ligue 1 team Rennes on August 14, 2020, for an undisclosed amount that is rumored to be between €4m and €5m. In a friendly matchup against Nice, where the team lost 3-2, he scored his first goal for the organization.
Aguerd’s first league goal came in a 4-2 victory over Nîmes on September 13, 2020. He was named the best player who plays for an African national football team in Ligue 1 on May 17, 2021, and he finished in 11th place overall in the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé.

Aguerd was named the third-best African player in Ligue 1 for the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé on May 16, 2022. He signed a five-year, £30 million contract with West Ham United in June 2022. After the sums spent for Sébastien Haller, Felipe Anderson, and Kurt Zouma, his was West Ham’s fourth-highest fee.
Aguerd made his debut for the Hammers on July 16 against Reading in a friendly at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, playing a total of 63 minutes in a 1-1 draw.
Aguerd suffered an ankle injury in his second game, a preseason friendly against Rangers on July 19, which necessitated surgery. Three months after the injury, on October 19th, Aguerd resumed team training.
On October 27, he made his professional West Ham United debut in a 1-0 victory over Silkeborg in a Europa Conference League match. On August 31, 2016, Aguerd made his debut for the Moroccan national team in a 0-0 friendly match against Albania.
Aguerd helped Morocco win its first CHAN championship by representing Morocco in the 2018 African Nations Championship. Aguerd’s first goal came against Sudan on September 6, 2021, during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. He converted a cross into a crisp effort that found the back of the net.
Later, Vahid Halilhodi sent an invitation to him so he might represent Morocco at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. All of Nayef’s games were started in the group stages. In a 2-2 draw with Gabon, he scored an own goal. He was included in Morocco’s 23-man roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on November 10, 2022.
