When Gigi Hadid stepped out for the Sports Illustrated 2016 Swimsuit Issue event on Tuesday evening, her jaw dropping Julien Macdonald jumpsuit landed her the number one spot on our Look of the Day roundup. Even her gorgeous hair and makeup caught our eye, so we went straight to her glam squad to get all of the details.
Gigi Hadid Hair How-To
Her hairstylist, Jennifer Yepez, explained, "Last night Gigi had this amazing see-through body suit. We wanted to keep things sexy and chic, so I gave her long sleek hair." To achieve the silky blowout, the hair pro washed and conditioned with Nexxus Therappe Shampoo ($17; walmart.com) & Humectress Conditioner ($31; drugstore.com). From mid-shaft to ends Yepez applied Nexxus Promend Heat Protecting Mist ($19; target.com) and from roots to ends R&Co Dallas Thickening Spray ($28; barneys.com). Then she used a large round brush to achieve a smooth blow dry.
"Once you're done blow drying, start parting your hair for your extensions," said Yepez, who added Easilocks Multi Weft Extensions ($470; easilocks.com), starting at the nape, to get this this look. "The extensions were key to achieving that camera-ready volume and glamorous length." Yepez also revealed her trick for keeping the clip-in hair in place: "When you are applying your extensions I like to take a teasing comb and just tease lightly where you want to place the clips."
After all of the extension have been added, the hair expert flat ironed everything, and tamed her ends with Kérastase Elixir Ultime Serum ($45; kerastase-usa.com).
Gigi Hadid Makeup How-To
Patrick Ta was the makeup genius behind Hadid's stunning burgundy eye makeup. "We wanted to do something bold yet beautiful," he told us. So they opted for a look that strayed from her normal red carpet looks.
"Gigi loves fresh flawless skin—but who doesn't?" he quipped. So after prepping her skin with a refining cleanser and day cream he created a smooth base with Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation ($11; maybelline.com). "To allow the skin to look dewy in all the right places I lightly powdered the T-zone with Face Studio Master Fix Powder by Maybelline ($10; drugstore.com).
For Hadid's lips, "I went with a muted lip (Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color in Nude Lust, $6; target.com) to keep all of the attention on her eye shadow," said Ta. "I really wanted the burgundy pigment to be the star!"
Ta created a custom shade for Hadid's jaw-dropping eye makeup. "I didn't have the perfect color so I had to mix two pigments by layering them." Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pure Pigment in Pink Rebel ($7; maybelline.com) was first blended into her lids with the MAC 217 brush ($25; maccosmetics.com). Then the MAC's Improper Copper shade ($22; maccosmetics.com) was layered on top. The makeup expert skipped the faux lashes because he wanted the burgundy hue to shine through. So he simply curled her natural lashes twice and added two coats of mascara.
"The body suit was so form fitting so I knew with these eyes, hair, and outfit the entire look would be nothing but fierce,” said Ta. We couldn't agree more.
