  • He started playing rugby league at the age of 13. However, he decided to switch to Australian rules football on the advice of his father, who himself had an iconic status within the game.
  • He excelled while playing for the Mount Gravatt Football Club, which drew the attention of Melbourne Demons and they eventually made him pick number 55 in the 2001 AFL Draft.
  • He didn’t have the best of starts at the Demons and had to initially play in defense despite his enormous potential at the center half position. He managed to kick a goal only in his 17th game.
  • In a match between Demons and Geelong Football club, he was involved in a horrific crash with Tom Lonergan, who lost one of his kidneys due to the collision.
  • In August 2010, he was delisted by the Demons. However, his popularity was quite high with the club’s fanbase and he was the highest polled Melbourne Demons player in the Best and Fairest competition.
